    How to calculate TANCET marks?

    TANCET is a state-level MBA entrance exam conducted by Anna University, offering admission to courses like MBA and MCA. As per the TANCET exam pattern, the exam is scored out of 100 marks. The total marks are calculated based on the TANCET marking scheme.

    How is the percentile calculated in TANCET?

    To calculate the accurate percentile, it is important to know the number of candidates who will appear in the TANCET 2026 exam. The TANCET percentile score is calculated using the following formula:

    Percentile= [(?−Rank)/?]×100

    where:

    • N is the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam
    • Rank is the candidate's rank in the exam

    For example, if 10,000 candidates appeared for TANCET and a candidate secured the 500th rank, their percentile would be:

    • Percentile= [(10000−500)10000]×100=95%

    TANCET Tie-Breaking Criteria

    TANCET Tie-Breaking Criteria is applied if two candidates have equal percentiles in the TANCET result. Before carrying out the TANCET counselling round, DTE gives ranks to the candidates based on their percentiles. In case the percentiles of two or more candidates are equal, the rank allotment is done based on the following criteria:

    • A candidate having a higher average percentage from the first semester/year to the (N-1)th semester/year in the qualifying degree exam is given priority. Here, N represents the total number of semesters/years in the qualifying exam.
    • If the tie persists, preference is given to the older candidate based on the birth date mentioned in the SSLC certificate.
